Well, if you have read Dustin or Ryan's bio mine may sound a little familiar...
I grew up in Ellenboro, NC, which is about 10 minutes closer to Charlotte, and a lot smaller town, than Forest City. I first met the Moore boys in the Boy Scouts. I believe I met Dustin first in Webelos (around 5th or 6th grade for those non-scouters out there). I was in the marching band, same as Ryan and Dustin but that is about where the similarities end.
I spent most of my summers between my junior year of high school and final year of college at Camp Bud Schiele, our local council's Boy Scout camp. There I started as a lifeguard but eventually because the Aquatics Director for a few summers. Those were some incredible summers that will never be forgotten. When it comes to artistic abilities I leave that to Dustin and Ryan as well as every other member of the Moore Creative team. I ran Cross-Country and Track in high school well enough to get a scholarship which opens up a whole can of worms I may or may not get into here. Read on to find out...
After graduating high school I attended Mars Hill College in pursuit of everything but a quality education which is apparently offered there. While there I ran Cross-Country and Track and was on the first team to win a SAC CC Championship (the first of 11 straight). I graduated with a BS in Sports Management.
After college I started my first "real" job as a District Executive with the Boy Scouts of America. After working with the Scouts for 3 years, I needed another challenge but wanted to stay in the non-profit field so my next step was towards the YMCA. I was a Teen Director with the YMCA. One thing that was consistent no matter where I landed or what my original job description was, I always ended up being the go to computer guy for just about anything you could think of. In the mean time I began working on a Masters in Marketing at a local university. After a while I started looking for opportunities that let me use all of my knowledge of managing people and programs, my love of the web, and my future master’s degree, when I had an interesting conversation Ryan about working at MC. A few months later I started working for MC!
While on staff with MC in 2009-2011, I was primarily the Operations Manager and was the main contact for clients, managed projects and ensured that the team had a full plate each day and that clients are happy. During that time we were approached to build a camp registration and merit-badge management system website, and our website service of My Camp Director was born!
I feel blessed to be able to work with my friends and family, and to be able to use my history and talents with Scouting in a meaningful way. I continue to work with My Camp Director as an advising director, and look forward to helping you with any questions or ideas you may have for MCD!
I now work with Moore Creative development partner Website Pipeline in Greenvile where we focus on eCommerce ERP integration. My wife, Meghan, and I live in Simpsonville, SC with our beautiful baby boy, Harrison.
