How Do I Make A ScreenShot? - How to Screen Capture

Many times to help with troubleshooting individual problems that a client sees on their computer, or error messages displayed, it helps to have a copy of a screenshotor screen capture. The notes below will help you create a screencaputre from your Windows XP machine.

The Windows Print Screen Key is found in the top right corner of your keyboard and can have several variations of spelling/presentation depending on your type of keyboard. It can look like any of these alternatives:

  • Print Screen/SysRq
  • PrtScn/SysRq
  • Prnt Scn

This key will take a snapshot or screen capture of your computer screen and copy it to the clipboard, ready to be pasted in its final destination in a Microsoft application. Its that simple.

Our suggestion for screen capture method would be as follows:

  1. Take your full screenshot by pressing the Print Screen Key
  2. Open a new email message in Outlook (or you can also paste into Word) and position your cursor where you would like your captured image to be placed.
  3. Press Ctrl + V to paste the captured image into your new email.
